RWANDA COOPERATION GOVERNANCE CENTRE INAUGURATION

Introduction and background

Rwanda Cooperation acts as a hub for foreign partners interested in understanding the innovative development initiatives (Home-Grown Initiatives and Good Practices) that have propelled Rwanda’s transformational journey. It advocates for knowledge-sharing at the global level, and championing mutually beneficial partnerships through which Rwanda can share its own knowledge and experience to support countries’ continued growth and development, as well as learn from the successes of other countries across the world.

Rwanda Cooperation is mandated with streamlining Rwanda’s South-South Cooperation activities, through a number of knowledge sharing modalities that include, the coordination of Study Visits and Training Programmes, Advisory Support and Project Implementation. Rwanda Cooperation works with governments, development partners and non-state actors.

Through this proper coordinated and centralized mechanism, Rwanda Cooperation has received over 400 delegations comprised of over 3,000 delegates since its inception in September 2018 for Study Visits and Training Programmes from Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean Islands in areas such as Ease of Doing Business and Investment Promotion, Gender Equality and Women Empowerment, Tax Administration and E-Tax Systems, Digitalization of Government Services and many more.

Rationale

Rwanda Cooperation Governance Centre

The Rwanda Cooperation Governance Centre is the knowledge sharing hub for all foreign parties interested to learn more on Rwanda’s experience and expertise through Study Visits and Training Programmes on various topics in an effort to advance the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Africa’s Agenda 2063. The centre will also double as a space for national, regional, and international events and conferences for all involved actors in South-South and Triangular Cooperation. It holds fully equipped conference rooms to accommodate a large number of foreign visiting delegations seeking to benchmark and learn from Rwanda’s innovative development initiatives (Home-Grown Initiatives and Good Practices).

CIFAL Kigali Launch

Knowledge sharing is central to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Agenda 2063. Rwanda is committed to playing its part in promoting the exchange of knowledge and experiences towards sustainable development, through Rwanda Cooperation. The CIFAL Global Network which stands for “Centre International de Formation des Authorités et Leaders” also focuses on the intersection of these global agendas by supporting their implementation as hubs for capacity building and trainings through knowledge sharing between local and regional authorities, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society.

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and Rwanda Cooperation partnership, resulting in the establishment of the CIFAL Kigali will bring together Rwandans and international stakeholders to be trained in various key thematic areas, and enhance their skills and capacities as local leaders. It will also be an opportunity to gain insights into Rwanda's experience and expertise in different domains related to Multilateral Diplomacy and Development Cooperation, focusing on Rwanda as a case study.
